A true Moroccan love story
My name is Viktoria. Although I know that doesn't sound very Moroccan, one should never judge a book by its title! I was born in the snowy lands of Russia, but always felt that my heart longed to be somewhere else, somewhere with a golden sun, rippling blue waters, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
I got the opportunity to work on the tiny tropical Islands of the Maldives for a while. Set far out in the middle of the Indian Ocean, the Maldives had the sunshine and rippling blue waters that I longed for, but I still felt like something was missing. Just when I felt like I needed to move on to find where my heart truly belonged, I met Badr, and our Moroccan love story began...
Badr swooped into my life, giving me a glimpse of a land beyond the horizon, one filled with history so real that you could touch it every day. A country where the people are warm, inviting and so vibrant they become the lifeblood of their land. Morocco, where you can lose yourself in the great markets, or walk along thousand-year-old battlements, while the warm Moroccan wind whips your hair around your face.
Morocco. Where traditional arts blend with modern versions of themselves, and all rub shoulders with a culture and traditions that have not changed much in over 1000 years.

Badr was transferred to Bangkok, another land of vibrant energy and seemingly endless activity. We tried to make out a home here, but it still didn't feel right. Badr had many years of experience working in the hospitality industry all over the world in five-star hotels providing his clients with their every wish. I too had worked in top quality hotels, so we came up with the idea that we should move home to Morocco, and use our experience to build something really special there.
Settling in the Atlantic town of Agadir, I immediately knew that I was home. My heart no longer ached for something that I couldn't put my finger on. We were soon married in a magical Moroccan themed ceremony that I will never forget. To crown off our new life, we had our daughter, Salma, who is the light of our lives.
We have lived in this amazing North African country for a few years now, and every day I find something new to fall in love with. Whether it is the centuries-old architecture, the food crammed with spice and flavour, the beautifully made artisanal items, or even just the throngs of people so full of vitality and life, I want to share my country with the world. I know that you will love it as much as I do. And so Welcoming Morocco was born, like a second child to Badr and me.
We have put years of planning and experience as well as our love, sweat, and sometimes tears into this experience to give you the absolute best Moroccon adventure possible.

Frequently asked questions
Is it safe to travel in Morocco?
It is considered safe to travel to Morocco, but tourists should exercise a normal level of caution while visiting.
What should I wear in Morocco?
In keeping with religious and cultural norms, general standards of dress in Morocco are fairly conservative. Beachwear is certainly not appropriate attire for exploring Morocco’s cities, towns, and villages in no matter how hot the temperatures may be. Keep bikinis and bathing suits for the beach only, and be sure to cover up when leaving for a hotel, restaurant, or anywhere else.
What language is spoken in Morocco?
English-speaking locals are common in major tourist and commercial areas, such as Marrakech, Fes, Rabat, Tangier, and Casablanca. Knowing a few Spanish words (in the north) or French words (in the middle) can help out immensely. Those who can speak basic Arabic, however, will be able to communicate with people almost all over the country. Most Amazigh-speaking Berbers speak Arabic as well.
